It will also be explained to you how the procedure works, how you would be treated, and what improvements you can reasonably expect. This consultation will also provide you with additional information which will help you make an informed decision. It can take only a few minutes to treat short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism.

To be suitable, you need to be over 21 years of age and have healthy eyes. You also need to have stable vision-no changes in your prescription for contact lenses or glasses for at least a year.

The following are considered as inappropriate for surgery:

	Patients under 21 years of age.
	Ophthalmic conditions such as only one seeing eye, conical cornea, irregular corneal surface or known viral infection of the cornea.
	During pregnancy, and those who are taking drugs that interfere with the healing response, the results of treatment may not be predictable.
	In those who are inappropriately motivated or do not comprehend the rationale of treatment the results, though predictable, may not produce satisfaction.
	Anyone suffering from severe dry eye disease.
